Central

Central Offers Convenience and Numerous Amenities With A Price

Central isn't like other areas of Singapore; it's actually comprised of smaller areas – Singapore River, Rochor, River Valley, Outram, Orchard, Newton, Marina South, Marina East, etc. Central is most commonly known as Central Business District. It's considered one of the busiest districts in Singapore, made up of residential, financial and commercial facilities, especially in the Outram and Rochor regions.

Central is considered the heart of Singapore, being that it is a financial and commercial city. It's often called "the place" by locals and visitors. It's often called the "birthplace of modern Singapore," and there is no surprise as to why.

Central's Lifestyle Offers Plenty of Amenities

Central is one of those places that allow citizens to walk to and from places. It's home to many of Singapore's most lavish neighborhoods and busier than other places around the country. Central has multiple residential areas – quite popular with those looking to move into the area. These neighborhoods include Bukit Merah, Bukit Timah, Holland Village, Newton, Orchard and Tanglin.

These areas offer apartments and high-rise condos that include various amenities such as gyms and pools. Nearby are country clubs, restaurants and places to shop. Orchard Road is well-known for its shopping, including tiny boutiques and fashion stores. The Civic District is a historical location and considered to the arts and cultural center. The Central Business District is the place for the copious amount of offices.

Central is the connector to other parts of the city and is a hub for the MRT lines. One such connection is to the area's local schools, including primary, secondary and higher-education schools. Some schools also cater to the international communities – Canadian, Dutch, French, German and Indian – Avondale Grammar School, EtonHouse International School, Hwa Chong International School, Stamford American International School and Swiss School in Singapore.

Given the busy lifestyle of Central, staying healthy is just as important. In Central, there are Mount Alvernia Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Still, plans are in place to develop more medical facilities. This will help to elevate Central to become a medical hub in the future.

If food be in the calling, Central residents are spoiled by the numerous restaurants to choose from. They can also partake from any of the foods offered at any one of the hawker centers, including Tiong Bahru Market or Holland Village.

The Future Of Central – Sports "Central"

In the meantime, Central is regarded as a community full of spirit with all kinds of things to do, such as the newly built Community Club along Buona Vista and the 5,000-seat performance auditorium at the Civic, Cultural and Retail Complex. Bishan has a state-of-the-art community library for residents to enjoy.  A huge sporting facility is looking to be the place for major entertainment and sporting events, and include a Sports Library and Museum.

Interesting Facts About Central

  • Central is the home to the four tallest buildings in Singapore – Swissotel The Stamford, UOB Plaza One, OUB Center and Republic Plaza.
  • Maxwell Market is a popular food haven for all Singapore citizens, and people who work often come here for lunch.

The critical aspect of Central? There isn't much in the way of greenery; it is, after all, a city that's got plenty of available jobs and a jumping nightlife. It much nosier than any city in Singapore, making it the place to be if you want the busy life.  Of course, the price to pay for housing is going to be more than you'd see with other Singapore towns, but you're going to pay for the convenience of everything you get here.

Central area is considered a premier location where HDB resale prices for a 4-room flat are very similar to the price of a 5-room flat in a mature estate or even the price of an Exclusive flat. This is the busiest section of Singapore, so homebuyers do expect to pay more for the convenience of being where all the action is. Many people have jobs in the CBD and living close by is well worth the extra investment, especially for those working on UK or US time.
