District 7
Beach Road, Bugis, Rochor
District 7 is a vibrant shopping area with plenty of commercial businesses as well, including little enclaves of arts, cultural activities, and learning. This district has also been transformed into a residential hotspot with new developments like the Concourse Skyline with spectacular views of the Singapore Flyer and Waterfront Gardens. Other popular developments include South Beach and DUO Residences. The Downtown Line has been completed, which means this area is in high demand among property investors due to the potential for capital gains for its accessibility.
Bugis
Bugis is now an integrated development made up of four sections: Bugis Junction, a Beijing Hualian Group department store known as BHG, Parco Bugis Junction, and InterContinental Singapore. This is a shopping centre and office tower development. Bugis Junction attracts a younger crowd because it’s a youth-oriented section of the mall with a lot of kiosks that sell things like phone gadgets, handbags, earrings, and accessories.
Another popular attraction among bargain hunters is Bugis Street, which is home to several enticing shops selling clothing by some great indie designers. Bugis is also famous for its flea markets where you can find blogshop labels at discount prices.
Beach Road
Beach Road is located across the way on Crawford Street. Here you will find a combination of commercial buildings along with structures of cultural and historical significance. One such building is Golden Mile Complex with its Food Centre. This is where enthusiastic foodies come for the tastiest authentic Thai food you can find anywhere. Furthermore, Beach Road is where you can see architecturally significant buildings, like The Plaza, The Concourse, and the distinctive tower, The Gateway, which is shaped like a trapezoid.
You will also find a few historical structures of importance, like Masjid Haijah Fatimah mosque on Beach Road. This mosque was named in honour of an aristocratic Malay woman who was exceptionally successful in business. She was considered way ahead of her time in this regard. Other historical buildings of significance on Beach Road are Raffles Hotel, and the civil war memorial.
