District 5 has often been referred to as Singapore’s most elusive area, but recently there has been quite a bit of redevelopment. The result is that the entire area is now open, accessible, and brimming with activity. This is wheresome of Singapore’s finest institutions are now located along with tons of interesting places where residents can spend their leisure time. District 5 is made up of a variety of developments, including the residential communities of Whitehaven and the Village at Pasir Panjang. These demonstrate the great possibilities of District 5 in terms of property ownership. 

Buona Vista

Buona Vista is clearly the busiest section of District 5. Along with many different commercial buildings, Buona Vista enjoys a lot of amenities. This is where you will find the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, the Civil Service College and One-North. Residents interested in furthering their education have their choice of several excellent schools, including Tanglin Trust School and Anglo-Chinese Junior College. Now that “The Star Vista” shopping centre is complete, Buona Vista has become a popular hang-out destination for people wanting to enjoy a “futuristic” shopping and dining experience. 

Clementi New Town

Clementi New Town is filled with the types of amenities that most Singaporeans love. This is thanks to the abundance of HDB flats that have been built over the years. Residents of this community can enjoy Clementi Community Club, Clementi Swimming Complex, Clementi Woods Park and Clementi Stadium. The community is also known for its excellent schools, including NUS High School, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and The National University of Singapore. 

West Coast

In the far west area of District 5 you will find the community of West Coast, which is not nearly as busy as other sections in the district. Residents have just a few amenities nearby, which include the Clementi West Market and West Coast Shopping Mall. However West Coast does offer something that other areas do not, which is West Coast Park – a haven for adventurous people who love physical activity. West Coast Park has a fitness corner, an adventure play area, and an obstacle course for cyclists. It also has a spectacular dog run where owners can take their dog(s) out for a leisurely walk.
