East Coast, Marine Parade
In the early 1900s, District 15 was filled with plantations growing coconut, cotton, gambier, nutmeg and pepper. During this time the Eurasian population kept growing in Singapore, increasing the need for churches, schools and other public facilities. District 15 has now become one of the most desirable areas for property investors.

Marine Parade
Residents of Marine Parade turn to the Marine Parade Town Centre for shopping and other needs. These include the Marine Parade Community Library and the Marine Parade Community Club, where there is a gym and a covered basketball court for residents to use, plus a 263-seat theatre.
This is a very desirable section for families due to the number of highly acclaimed schools. These include CHIJ (Katong) Primary and Secondary Schools, Tanjong Katong Girls’ Secondary School, Chung Cheng (Main) High School and Victoria Junior College.
East Coast
Further east you have the East Coast section of District 15, which is where you can get the tastiest local dishes, like roti prata, katong laksa, and chili crab legs. The entire area is filled with food stalls, one of the best is 328 Katong Laksa at 51 East Coast Road. Another great food stall is found at 49 East Coast Road where 49 Katong Laksa is. There are all kinds of restaurants in East Coast Park serving chili crab, like Jumbo Seafood, Long Beach Seafood Restaurant, Little Red House, and No Signboard Seafood.
East Coast is also blessed with a wonderful beach, all its own. It’s located at the East Coast Park and offers all kinds of water sports and other recreational activities for residents. There are skating and cycling kiosks, sand play areas, tennis courts, a fishing jetty, People’s Association Water-Venture, and an amphitheatre. All these facilities has made East Coast a popular weekend getaway spot.
